Workshop Bids

NCASC 2024 Workshop bid applications are now open.

Please read the following information before completing the application form. The application form is available via the link at the end of this guidance.

The National Children and Adult Services Conference (NCASC) is a key annual conference attended by all those with an interest in the provision of effective services and support for children, young people, their families and adults who draw upon care and support, including health, social care and education. We are seeking bids to run workshop sessions at NCASC 2024 in Liverpool. Workshops provide a vital opportunity for attendees to discuss key issues and share examples of innovation and good practice.

What we are looking for…

  • The conference organisers are looking for bids that reflect the breadth of key issues and priorities within children’s and adult services at a strategic level, ideally with participation from senior leadership in councils, and that allow for plenty of time for discussion and interaction.
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion is central to NCASC and the conference organisers expect both the content of workshops and the composition of speakers to consider and  reflect the diversity of the communities councils support.
    • Adult services: particular consideration will be given to bids which focus on and share innovation on key issues across care and health and involve people who draw upon adult social care and support in both design and delivery.  More information on current topics that will be of interest to attendees are on the ADASS and LGA websites.
    • Children’s services: particular consideration will be given to bids focusing on children, young people and families, including child poverty, family help, mental health and wellbeing, extrafamilial harm, youth justice, inclusive education and SEND.
    • All age: we are also keen to see bids on cross-cutting, all age issues such as transitions, mental health and wellbeing, community safety, community-based services, asylum and resettlement.

 The application process…

  • One chair and up to three speakers is the maximum for each workshop to allow plenty of time for discussion. More information for speakers is below.
  • The application form is straightforward and brief. It covers: contact details, session title, session outline, proposed speakers and work area. You can amend and save the form at any stage until you are ready to submit it.
  • The deadline for submitting completed bids is 5.00pm on 10th May 2024. We will not be able to accept bids submitted after this date. We aim to let you know the outcome from mid June 2024 onwards. We will not be able to let you know the outcome prior to this date..
  • All bids will be considered by the conference planning committee made up of representatives from, ADASS, ADCS and the LGA.
  • If you are keen to promote chargeable products or services at the conference, please contact Lee Westney (tel: 07813 346217) to discuss booking an exhibition space as these will not be considered as part of the bidding process.

Speaker attendance…

  • Speakers will receive a free place at the conference on the day of their session and will not need to register online to attend the conference for that day.
  • Speakers’ expenses will not be reimbursed either fully or partially and speakers will need to arrange and pay for their own travel and accommodation.
  • Sessions will only be added to the conference programme once speakers listed in the bids have been confirmed as attending.
  • Any subsequent changes to the sessions or the speakers will need to be agreed by the conference planning committee.
